Keywords and keyword phrases are the key tools required for getting a higher ranking in search engines. When search engine spiders crawl a site, this is what they are looking for. They are also looking for the number of times the keywords appears as well as where and how it is used. Random and irrelevant repetition of keywords can result in being banned from search engines. Extensive research for the right keywords is essential in obtaining high rankings.

One of the most important rules to follow when trying to optimize your site for search engines is Don't Spam. It is that simple. Don't spam. If you spam, you will get caught, sooner or later.
