DST-Free for Canada

What’s New?

Beginning July 1, 2025, advertisers will no longer be charged the 2.5 % Digital Services Tax (DST) in their invoices from Google for traffic from Canada. This change is due to the Canadian government’s commitment to revoke the DST which they were charging to major tech companies generating significant revenue (exceeding CAD$20 million in a calendar year). The tax was designed to ensure these digital giants contributed to the Canadian economy in a manner that reflects their substantial earnings from within the country.

What Does This Mean?

  • The 2.5% Canada DST will no longer be charged
  • Display and Video 360 ads might still have DST for Canada appearing in their reporting
until July 31, 2025. Any DST charges incurred in July will be removed from your invoices and
statements; customers will not be charged.
